You let your arm drop after a moment, but when it naturally lands on Sans’ waist, you just… leave it. He leans into your touch, tilting his head back with a happy sigh. He can’t, with his arms holding the jacket over your head, so you help him out, reaching an arm around his shoulders and scritching the curve of his cranium. “well, if i had, it would’ve said your birthday would be bright and beautiful and perfect for an evening walk in the park,” he says, clearly wanting to scratch the back of his skull. Sans’ grin turns sheepish, and your laughter only gets louder. It seems like too much work, to be honest. “You actually checked the forecast?” You ask, laughing at the thought of your bonefriend navigating his way through Papyrus’ bookmarks to find the weather site. There’s a park up ahead and you know the ducks will be enjoying the rain. “uhh, this wasn’t in the forecast,” he says, and the surprise on his skull has you laughing again as you tug him along, content to keep walking. He’s soaked through in an instant, blinking at you blankly, arms stretched out around you, sheltering you from the storm. He lifts it up over your head, blocking the rain from wetting your hair, just as thunder rumbles through the clouds and the sky opens up above you. “uh-oh,” Sans says, letting go of your hand for a moment to shrug out of his jacket. Now, you’re not so sure, the rain pattering down on you dampening the mood a bit. Sans’ low laughter at your attempts to blow the candle out again started you laughing too, and when he finally put the candle out with his bony fingertips, you already knew this was going to be your favorite birthday ever. ![]() He’d special ordered a dessert for you, and he stuck a single candle in it and sang ‘happy birthday’, and when you tried to blow out the candle, it lit back up immediately, brighter than before, and started sparking. You let him talk you into ordering your top two favorite dishes, one for you and one for him, and he let you steal as many bites as you wanted. He shortcutted you to your favorite restaurant, and his jacket is freshly washed and somehow looks even softer and comfier than it usually does.
